I am an artist, mother, and nature lover who wants to bring happiness to the world through my creations. I believe I can evoke happiness in many ways, which could be creating art that is playful and whimsical, or by creating art just for the sheer beauty. When I tell people I am an artist, often one of the first questions I am asked is what type of media I like to work with: paint, ceramics, multimedia (installation), photography? The truth is that I love (and work with) all of these media. At this point in my career I am heavily focused on ceramics...

About GiGi

Native Texan Gigi Griffin Miller is an artist, mother, and nature lover. She has lived in Austin, Texas for 25 years. Gigi’s primary medium is sculpture with an emphasis on public art. Fascinated by the concept of creative placemaking and the role of the arts in community development, Gigi is dedicated to grass roots involvement in the creative process. For every sculpture she plans local mosaic tile making events for residents of all ages and abilities. Her large-scale sculptures are decorated with brightly colored handmade tesserae and provide a sense of whimsy and hope, especially in areas where public art is scarce. She firmly believes civic involvement brings the community together and fosters a feeling of inclusion and personal investment in public spaces. Her artistic ambition is to allow everyone to experience joy and creativity every day.

Gigi received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 2003. She had her artistic epiphany while taking a Community Based Art class with Dr. Christopher Adejumo, when she realized that she could combine her passion for art with her commitment to social outreach. Since then, Gigi has continued to develop her skills and techniques by studying with respected artists. She is a leader in several regional artists groups, especially those with a strong commitment to community involvement. Gigi produces art at her commercial studio located near Bee Cave, TX.
